Out is In

From simple to spectacular, brides are taking their weddings outside to enjoy the splendors of nature; whether an elegant garden party at an estate garden, the sweeping Pacific, or a breathtaking mountaintop

Grand Ballrooms are Back

Embracing all the elegance and formality of yesterday, brides are opting for big, lavish celebrations, often including large live bands or orchestras

The Wedding Cake as an Art Form

Wedding cakes and the artisans who create them have moved to the forefront of the wedding scene. The creators of wedding cakes are giving their imagination and artistic abilities free reign, creating masterpieces embellished with all manner of cascading sugar spun artwork, or breathtaking florals

Food

Gone are the basic traditional chicken breast and prime rib, and making way for sophisticated menu selections, with three-course sit-down dinners being the trend to watch for. Stylishly prepared fish and chicken, grilled meats, and elegant presentations are the choice du jour

New Bars

The coffee bar & martini bar have been popular for a while, and now the new kids in town are the champagne bar, hot chocolate bar, and dessert bar. Also, some couples are coming up with the signature drink, the Cosmopolitan, Kir Royale, flavored martinis, or having one designed especially for them to serve at their reception

If the Theme Fits - Wear It

Themes are a great way to find an element or two and weave it throughout your festivities, making it a unified celebration

Seasons

Winter - Washes of silver or gold played out against the elegant and seasonal backdrop of white make for a festive, wintery wedding. Incorporate the trappings of your winter holiday celebration into the theme, giving ornaments as favors, or using evergreens as part of the decorations. And don't forget the twinkle lights or candles, the perfect way to perpetuate the iridescence of the season

Spring - This season of new beginnings makes a charming theme for a wedding. Take advantage of the bounties that spring has to offer - plentiful flowers and foods just coming into season. Continue the theme throughout the reception with lots and lots of fresh flowers (sprinkle petals in the punch
or place a petal or two in the champagne glasses) and perhaps prettily wrapped flower bulbs or seed packets for favors

Summer - The long lazy days of summer just beg for a wedding in the splendor of the out of doors, with the beach or seashore enjoying a surge of popularity. These types of celebrations lend themselves to an easy, relaxed elegance, gently billowing tents, lots of shade-producing umbrellas, paper lanterns, and menus featuring fresh seafood and tropical fruit. More fresh fruit, exotic flowers, and seashells can be used for decorations

Autumn - Autumn signifies the bounty of Mother Nature, resplendent in rich colors and varied textures. Use flowers in deep rich colors, adding foliage, autumn leaves, sheaths of wheat, and decorative grasses to take full advantage of the season. The added glow of candlelight keeps the look warm and welcoming
